Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman sought to allay industry concerns over the anti-profiteering clause in the GST law, saying there is nothing to fear.
With the countdown to GST rollout underway, government promised leniency in enforcing penal laws for violations during the initial period of implementation.
The GST Council, which is meeting Saturday, is likely to finalise the draft model GST law including final drafting of the anti-profiteering clause.
Piyush Goyal conceded that there is slim possibility of implementation of GST law by April 2016 deadline.
