Banks Raise Infra Concerns

September 4: Bloomberg TV India learns that banks have approached the RBI with their concerns regarding bad debt in the infrastructure sector. Sources indicate that banks want to significantly reduce and slow down lending to this sector as both fresh loans and refinancing of infra loans remain a big worry. They also raised concerns about contractual disputes, hurdles in land acquisition and weak environment clearances leading to poor execution of infra projects.
