August 21: Sajid Chinoy, An Indian Economist at JP Morgan, cites the central bank’s effort’s to infuse liquidity by issuing a Rs 8000 crore bond buyback. He points out that the immediate objective of raising the short term interest rates has substantially been achieved and that the RBI will ensure that the liquidity tightening does not harden longer yields sharply and adversely impact the flow of credit to the productive sectors of the economy.
