August 23: Agreeing that rupee speculation has become unattractive, Chief Economist at Kotak Mahindra Bank, Indranil Pan explains, “When the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is not present in a significant manner in the currency market and with the overall market debt is quite shallow, even a slight jerk or volatility can be quite significant.” He also adds that the central bank needs to be more open in terms of its direct intervention policies.
