September 3: The US Fed QE tapering news has sparked off a mini crisis in emerging markets (EMs), says Jeff Chowdhry, Head of Emerging Equities at F&C Investments. EMs with large deficits, India, Turkey, Indonesia and Brazil, were the worst hit. However, he insists that the Fed move has already been priced in by markets so there is unlikely to be a major impact when the withdrawal finally comes through.
