September 27: BNP Paribas Wealth Management’s Andrew Freris says to generate optimism about itself, India needs to get inflation down consistently. The government also needs to revive policy and narrow the fiscal deficit, which is seen increasing due to a misguided food policy, he says. “None of these points will be resolved before the elections,” he says, adding that India has the potential to grow at 8-10% but is being hampered by the electorate’s choices.
