September 30: Consumer stocks are expensive as there are few places to hide if you’re pessimistic on the future, says Prashant Jain of HDFC Mutual Funds. Any economic recovery will erode these premiums and slow growth in this sector. He is also concerned about pharma growth over the next 3-5 years. “IT, pharma and consumer stocks do not have room to expand multiples in the next few years,” he says, adding that all other sectors have room to grow.
