March 3: Supreme Court Senior Advocate Anil Divan sees scope for more judicial activism and denies a need for government to rush ordinances. He discusses his unhappiness with the Lokpal’s structure and the way Telengana was created. The government shied away from cleaning up the tax system and acted on black money cases with an inexplicable double taxation law, he says. The Supreme Court is severely overburdened, he says, adding that judicial reforms should be on the next government’s agenda.
