Prime Minister Narendra Modi fought from two seats – Vadodra and Varanasi - in 2014 general elections. The former was in his home state, Gujarat, where he was the chief minister for 13 years, the latter, was in Uttar Pradesh where his party was out of power for 14 years. He won both helping his party register resounding victory in 2017 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Das says according to SWAT analysis, he has selected Asansol in West Bengal as the second seat from where Modi should contest, seeing the geographical advantages of the place. He says it is bordering Jharkhand and his contest from this place will galvanise cadres since BJP’s prospects not looking good in Jharkhand.
Das further says BJP is looking aggressively at West Bengal in 2019.
