September 4: Zia Mody, Managing Partner at AZB Partners, says the Companies Law has a few areas of discomfort. “The new law tries to plug gaps made evident after the Satyam fiasco, but some rules seem to be a knee-jerk reaction,” she says. Mody doesn’t understand the logic in limiting subsidiaries and raises concerns on the rules concerning independent directors. “I will wait for the new rules before making a judgment on the law, she states.
