Govt Finalises $15-Bn Coal Gasification Project

The Department of Chemicals and Petro-Chemicals has finalised a mega $15-billion plan for India’s coal gasification, involving both state-owned and private companies. The first project will take off from Talcher mines in Odisha’s Angul district. Representatives of firms like Tatas, Adani, Vedanta and Jindal have shown interest in the project that will also include a few PSUs, especially subsidiaries of Coal India and firms like GAIL, ONGC, IOC.
