The government on Wednesday cleared seven amendments to the insolvency law that seeks to put in place a 330-day deadline for corporate resolution process. According to Mohit Saraf, Senior Partner at Luthra & Luthra, most cases at NCLT and NCLAT have been delayed by 700 days, and the amendments have been brought about to improve judicial accountability. Saraf said the NCLAT order on Essar Steel was incorrect, and if the government pushes the amendments, Essar Steel should be resolved in 60 days.
