June WPI Inflation Near 2-Yr Low Of 2.02%

The Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation stood at 23-month low of 2.02 per cent (provisional) year-on-year for the month of June 2019, helped by decline in prices of vegetables as well as fuel and power items. The headline number stood at 2.45 per cent for May 2019 and 5.68 per cent in June 2018. Here's what Aditi Nayar, Principal Economist at rating agency ICRA, thinks about the headline numbers.
