September 12: Rural India is not fully insulated from the events in urban areas, says Abhay Laijawala of Deutsche Equities India. However, the best monsoon since 1994 with the best spatial coverage in 16 years, the increasing average reservoir capacity in India and the 7-8% increase in sowing area bode well for the agricultural sector, he says. All these factors combined will result in a reasonable pick up in rural incomes, he adds.
