October 1: Credit Suisse’s Robert Prior-Wandesforde says most people are assuming the US shutdown in temporary, which would have a negligible impact. “However, if it continues and we run into the debt ceiling debate, it will have a big impact on jobs and economic activity,” he says. If the shutdown continues for 1-2 months, it could shave 1-2 bps off the GDP and hurt exports coming in from Asia, he adds.
